Thousand Oaks, California - The Tiger
men's tennis team lost a 6-3 decision at California Lutheran
University on Friday night.
Trinity fell to 6-7 on the season with the loss, which comes on
the heels of yesterday's victory over North Carolina Wesleyan.
The Tigers are in the midst of a string of eight consecutive
games away from home. It also marks the second time in three
matches that Trinity has lost a 6-3 decision to Cal Lutheran.
Unlike the first meeting when Cal Lutheran took the lead after
doubles, today it was Trinity who jumped in front early. The
Tigers won at the second and third position in doubles, led by an
8-2 victory by Greg Haugen and Connor Dunn.
Charlie Curtis won in both singles and doubles in the match,
teaming up with Nicolas Moreno for an 8-4 doubles victory to start.
Curtis then won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles for the team's only
singles point.
Trinity's Aaron Skinner and Moreno suffered narrow defeats in
singles, with both players falling in a third set. Skinner
won the first set 6-4, but lost 3-6, 6-7 in the next two.
The Tigers continue the road trip tomorrow at Claremont,
beginning at 1:00 p.m. After a day off on Sunday, Trinity
will finish the trip with matches against Case Western Reserve and
Carnegie Mellon on Monday and Tuesday.
