Perry, Kersten, and Kovachev Represent Trinity Tennis In NCAA Individual Championships

Trinity Sends Three to NCAA Individual Championships

Following strong spring seasons, Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School), Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West), and Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) will represent Trinity University Tigers Tennis at the NCAA Division III Individual Championships, held May 23-26 at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The championships will be hosted by University of the South and Chattanooga, TN.

Kovachev earned a spot in the NCAA Women's Singles Championship following a standout freshman season that established her as one of the top players in the SAA. She became the first player in conference history to be named both SAA Player of the Year and SAA Newcomer of the Year in the same season. Kovachev also earned First Team All-SAA honors in singles, was named SAA Singles Player of the Week once, and collected three SAA Doubles Player of the Week awards during the year. Primarily competing at the No. 1 singles position, she finished the season with a 10-5 singles record while consistently facing top competition throughout the spring.

On the men's side, Kersten qualified for the NCAA Men's Singles Championship after another strong season at the top of Trinity's lineup. Kersten was named SAA Player of the Year and earned ITA West Region Most Improved Player of the Year honors following a season in which he posted a 13-8 singles record, primarily at the No. 1 position. He also received First Team All-SAA recognition in singles play.

Kersten will also compete alongside Perry in the NCAA Men's Doubles Championship. The duo finished the season 15-5, earning SAA-doubles player of the week twice. They established themselves as one of the top doubles teams in Division III, climbing as high as No. 2 in the ITA national rankings during the season. Their consistency throughout both conference and non-conference play helped secure their bid into the national field.

The NCAA Individual Championships bring together many of the top singles players and doubles teams in Division III, with competition taking place over four days in Chattanooga.
