Box Score 2 Shreveport, Louisiana - The Tiger baseball
team opened a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend
series with a doubleheader split at Centenary College on Saturday
afternoon.
Trinity opened the day with a 3-0 shutout victory to extend the
team's winning streak to nine games, but then Centenary hammered
out an 11-1 win in eight innings (run rule) to earn the split.
Ryan Lucero (4-0) pitched his second straight shutout to lead
the Tigers to victory in the opener. Lucero struck out five
and allowed just two hits in the game.
Kevin Clements was 1-2 with two RBI in the game, cracking a
two-run double in the second inning to put Trinity up 2-0 at the
time. Pat Hirschberg hit his eighth double of the year to
drive in a run in the third, finishing the scoring. He hit
his ninth double of the year in game two.
Kevin Francke, Jonathan Hall, and Austin Singer all finished
with two hits each in the game. Five players had one hit each
in game two, with Chris Bianchi scoring the team's only run.
Andrew Alig took the loss in the second game, coming on in
relief of Carter Lauck in the first inning. Lauck left the
game after just two batters. Alig allowed four runs on five
hits through five innings, striking out three batters, but also
walking three.
Centenary opened with a run in the first, but Trinity tied the
game in the third. The Gents then scored three times in the
fourth and five more in the sixth to take control of the game.
Centenary added runs in the seventh and eighth to enact the
run rule.
The two teams finish the weekend series tomorrow afternoon at
1:00 p.m. The Gents will also face the Tigers in two games in
San Antonio later this month.
