Box Score San Antonio - The Tiger baseball team
opened up a two-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series
with an 8-3 win over the University of Dallas on Saturday
afternoon.
Trinity and Dallas came into the game in second and third in the
SCAC standings, and the Tigers increased their lead to two games to
move to 12-5 in conference play. Dallas falls to 16-18
overall and 10-7 in the SCAC.
The Tigers added single runs in the second, fifth, and sixth
innings to take a 3-0 lead, but the Crusaders rallied with three
runs in the seventh to tie the game. Trinity answered quickly
with four runs in the bottom of the inning, then added an extra
insurance run in the eighth to cap the scoring.
Connor Moore and Kevin Clements had three hits each to lead the
Tiger offensive attack, accounting for six of the team's 10 total
hits. Moore was 3-5 with one RBI, while Clements was 3-4 with
one run and two RBI, and both players hit doubles. Will
Donnan and Kevin Francke both scored two runs.
Ryan Lucero improved to 7-1 this season, giving up three runs on
nine hits through seven innings, and striking out four batters.
Michael Bentz finished the game with two shutout innings,
allowing just one hit.
Trinity and Dallas complete their regular season series with a
single game tomorrow afternoon. The Tigers have won each of
the four previous meetings between the two teams this year, taking
all three road games earlier this year.
