Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's baseball team
finished off a five-game regular season sweep with a 14-4 win over
the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers improved to 29-7 overall and 13-5 in Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Trinity won two games at
home this weekend, after sweeping a three-game series at Dallas
earlier this season. The game ended after Trinity scored two
runs in the bottom of the seventh to go ahead by 10 runs.
Trinity started modestly enough with a single run in the first,
but then broke the game open with a five-run third. Dallas
broke up the shutout in the fourth to answer, but Trinity had
another big inning - a six-run sixth - to pull ahead 12-1.
The Crusaders initially avoided the run rule with three runs
in the seventh, but the Tigers were able to answer to finish the
game.
Christian Muscarello was 3-4 with two runs and six RBI to lead
the Tiger offense. Kevin Clements also had three hits and a
pair of RBI, while both Connor Moore and Kevin Francke scored three
runs each. Francke also had a pair of hits, and Moore had a
hit and drew three walks to reach base four times. Pat
Hirschberg was 2-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Zack Speer improved to 6-0 this season, giving up one run on six
hits through six innings, and striking out two batters.
Trinity will head to Seguin, Texas on Tuesday afternoon, facing
off against Texas Lutheran University at 2:00 p.m. The Tigers
earned an 8-6 win over the Bulldogs in San Antonio earlier this
season.
