Trinity (16-9), first defeated Texas-Tyler, ranked 11th in the NCAA Division III, by a score of 6-3 on the Patriots' home courts. The Tigers then drove two hours to Plano and beat Collin College 5-2 (played to decision). Collin College is ranked No. 4 in the JUCO poll.

 

With the win over Texas-Tyler, the Tigers captured their seventh consecutive match against a Division III opponent.

 

Trinity won two of three doubles against the Patriots, with Aaron Skinner and Nico Moreno winning 8-3 in the No. 2 slot, and Greg Haugen and Connor Dunn taking the No.3 line 8-2. Erick Delafuente and Jordan Mayer lost a hard-fought No. 1 doubles match 9-8 (7).

 

The Tigers captured Nos. 3-6 singles, including Haugen's 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 3. DelaFuente won the No. 4 line 6-4, 6-2; and Mayer was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 5. Charlie Curtis was the victor at No. 6 singles, winning 6-2, 6-2. Texas-Tyler won the top two singles positions, as Skinner fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1; and Moreno lost 6-3, 6-2 on the No. 2 line.

 

 Trinity's match against the Cougars also began with a 2-1 lead in doubles, with Moreno and Curtis winning the No. 2 line 8-4; and Haugen and Dunn taking No. 3 by a score of 8-6.

 

Four of the six singles matches were completed, and the Tigers were victorious in three of them. The clincher came at No. 5 singles as Dunn  registered a 6-1, 6-0 win. Haugen took No. 2 singles 7-5, retired; and Curtis won the No. 4 line 6-2, 6-0. Collin County's player beat Moreno 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Delafuente's No. 3 singles match did not finish, but the lone Tiger senior was leading 6-1, 5-0 when the match was halted. Pablo Diaz Boom played No. 6 singles, and it also was an incomplete match. The Cougars won the first set 6-3, and Diaz Boom led 4-2 when the dual match was called.

 

 On Friday, Trinity beat UT-Dallas 8-1 in Richardson, and gave a hard run before losing to Division I SMU 5-2 in Dallas. The Tigers secured the doubles point by winning two matches against the Mustangs.

 

Trinity will defend its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title by hosting the SCAC Men's and Women's Championships April 27-28. The winners will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Playoffs.
