Box Score Seguin, Texas - The Tiger baseball team
held off a late charge to earn a 3-2 road win over Texas Lutheran
University on Tuesday afternoon.
Trinity earned its 30th win of the season with the narrow
victory, after also beating the Bulldogs 8-6 in San Antonio earlier
in the year. The Tigers have won six consecutive games.
The two teams were scoreless through four innings of play, when
Trinity loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth. The
Tigers scored on a passed ball and two sacrifice flies to take a
3-0 lead.
The Bulldogs broke up a shutout with an unearned run in the
sixth, then added another run in the ninth. Texas Lutheran
put the winning run on base, but hit into a double play to cut
short the rally.
Starting pitcher Andrew Alig (4-1) was perfect through 3.2
innings, giving up just one earned run through 8.1 innings, and
striking out six batters. Troy Ward came on in the ninth,
inducing the game-ending double play.
Connor Moore went 3-5 with a run to lead the Tiger offense,
which finished with five total hits in the game. Christian
Muscarello and Pat Hirschberg also had hits, while Muscarello and
Kevin Francke both drove in runs.
Trinity travels to Southwestern University this weekend to
complete its regular season conference schedule with two road
games. The Tigers swept a three-game home series from the
Pirates earlier in the year.
