Box Score Georgetown, Texas - The Tiger baseball
team wrapped up its 2013 conference schedule with a 10-4 win at
Southwestern University on Sunday afternoon.
Trinity finished Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play
with a 15-5 record this season, as well as an overall mark of 32-7.
The Tigers tied for the top spot in the standings, but will
be the second seed at the SCAC Championships next weekend.
Kevin Francke was 3-4 with a double and three runs scored to
lead Trinity's offense, which tallied 10 total hits in the game.
Christian Muscarello also scored three runs in the game, as
well as stealing a pair of bases.
Jonathan Hall picked up three RBI, while Pat Hirschberg added
two more, and Connor Moore also scored twice and swiped two steals.
Hall finishes the weekend series with eight RBI, driving in
five runs in yesterday's 13-1 win over the Pirates.
Kyle Bogese (2-0) earned the win, going 6.1 innings without
allowing a hit. He did give up three runs - only two earned
- after walking seven batters, though he did also record seven
strikeouts. Franklin Bay and Ryan Gray finished off the game
in relief for the Tigers, giving up just one hit, and combining for
four strikeouts.
Trinity opened the game with a two-run first inning and never
looked back. The Tigers tacked on three more runs in the
third, and had the lead up to 7-0 before Southwestern got on the
board with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Pirates then added three more in the seventh to make it a
7-4 game; however, the Tigers slammed the door with three more runs
in the eighth and ninth to secure the win.
Trinity will finish off the regular season by hosting
Hardin-Simmons University on Monday evening, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The Tigers open SCAC Tournament play on Friday, April 26,
facing off against the University of Dallas at 12:00 p.m.
