Box Score San Antonio - The Tiger baseball team
finished off the 2013 regular season schedule with a 3-1 win over
Hardin-Simmons University on Monday night.
Trinity improved to 33-7 with the win, which was also the ninth
consecutive for the Tigers. The game also saw Trinity hold an
8-4 edge in hits, and Hardin-Simmons picked up two of its three
hits in the ninth inning.
Zack Speer pitched eight shutout innings before allowing a run
in the ninth, finishing his day by giving up one run on four hits,
and striking out 10 batters. Michael Bentz came on to finish
the game with a strikeout with two runners on base, earning his
third save of the season.
Trinity scored single runs in the second, fourth, and fifth
innings, led by two RBI from Kevin Clements. Clements went
2-3 on the day, driving home the first two runs of the ball game.
Christian Muscarello grabbed the third RBI for the Tigers,
adding the final run of the day. Will Donnan also had two
hits, going 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Pat
Hirschberg and Connor Moore also scored for the Tigers.
Trinity will face off against the University of Dallas to open
the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday,
April 26, at 12:00 p.m. The tournament will be held in
Georgetown, Texas, and will be hosted by Southwestern
University.
