Tiger Baseball Edges Concordia For Third Consecutive Victory

Box Score

Austin, Texas - Trinity's 10th-ranked baseball team earned its third consecutive victory with a 2-1 road win over Concordia (TX) University on Tuesday night.

The Tigers improved to 27-7, while Concordia fell to 18-18 on the season.  Trinity also beat Concordia 8-2 in San Antonio earlier this season, sweeping the regular season series between the two teams.

Trinity got a run in the second on a Jeremy Wolf single, but the Tigers left the bases loaded, and missed a shot at a big inning.  Concordia tied the game with a solo home run in the third, but Trinity got another score on a sacrifice fly by Christian Muscarello to regain the lead in the seventh.

Andrew Alig went 7.1 innings to bump his season record to 3-1, allowing one run on five hits, and striking out six batters.  Michael Bentz came on in relief, striking out two batters in the final 1.2 innings to earn his second save of the year.  Bentz faced just five batters, and didn't allow a hit to finish off the game.

Wolf went 2-4 with the RBI, while Muscarello was 1-2 on the day.  Will Donnan and Kelly Woodruff scored runs for the Tigers, and Woodruff also had two hits on a 2-3 night.

Trinity resumes Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action this weekend, hosting the University of Dallas in a two-game series that begins on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
