San Antonio – The eighth-ranked Trinity
Tigers women's soccer team wrapped up its Labor Day weekend
schedule with a 3-1 victory Sunday afternoon over the University of
Puget Sound Loggers.
Trinity (2-0-0) defeated Luther College 3-1 in Friday's
season-opener.
Jennifer White scored first in the game, by blasting a shot from
more than 30 yards away in the 11th minute of play.
Puget Sound responded with a goal by Annie Jonsson in the
22nd minute, but Shelby Guenthardt knocked in the eventual
game-winner just a few minutes later (30:14) for the Tigers.
Maggie Olvera fired in the only goal of the second half, scoring
in the 68th minute on an assist from Michelle Lanier.
Tiger goalkeeper Devan Osegueda played the full 90 minutes, and
recorded five saves, facing 14 total shots from Puget Sound.
The Tigers travel to Claremont, Calif., Friday to take on
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Trinity then meets Chapman next Sunday,
also at Claremont. The Tigers return home Friday, Sept. 13, to host
the University of Texas-Tyler at 7 p.m.
