San Antonio - The Tiger women's soccer team finished off a weekend sweep in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 10-0 victory over Schreiner University on Sunday afternoon.
The undefeated Tigers (7-0-1, 2-0-0 SCAC) recorded their fifth consecutive shutout of the season. Trinity, the defending conference champion, also posted a season-high 10 goals. Last Friday, the Tigers opened the weekend with a 7-0 blanking of Texas Lutheran. Schreiner remained winless at 0-8-0 and 0-3-0 SCAC. Trinity and Schreiner will meet again on Oct. 27 at Kerrville, Texas.
Tiger player Emily Jorgens scored two goals on Sunday, both in the first half, along with dishing out two assists. Jorgens moved up to No. 2 on Trinity's career assists list, with 37 total. She passed Tanya Zwick, who played from 1992-1995, with 36 assists. Jorgens leads the Tigers in goals scored (seven) and assists (six) this season.
Michelle Lanier produced two goals and three assists, including the opening goal of the game, in the fourth minute of play. In addition to Jorgens and Lanier, Mariah Risk, Hannah Kuhl, and Jennifer White scored in the first half, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead at halftime.
Brigette Taylor, Hannah Hommel, and Endaisia Love added goals in the second half.
Taylor was also responsible for two assists, as was Kirby Peddicord. Kuhl, Hommel, Kelsey Falcone, and Shelby Guenthardt each had one assist.
The Tigers pounded out 51 total shots, and allowed Schreiner only one, which was on goal. Trinity goalkeeper Kendall Kotara made the save. The Tigers also accounted for 26 shots on goal.
Trinity will host two SCAC games next weekend, starting with Centenary at 6 p.m. Friday. Austin College comes to campus at noon Sunday.
