San Antonio - Tiger senior midfielder
Emily Jorgens has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for
the second time this season.
Jorgens became the first player in SCAC history to reach 50
goals and 50 assists in a career over the last week, leading
third-ranked Trinity to wins over Our Lady of the Lake and
Centenary.
Jorgens scored the game-winning goal in Monday's 4-0
shutout over Our Lady of the Lake, finding the back of the net in
the 17th minute of action. On Friday, she scored three
consecutive goals in the second half of play for the
Tigers.
The hat trick in Friday's win over Centenary marks the
third consecutive season that Jorgens has scored a hat trick, and
she also scored her 50th career goal during the game. She is
the first player in Trinity history to reach 50 goals and 50
assists, and she is now just nine goals from breaking the school
record for a career.
For the season, Jorgens leads Trinity with 11 goals and 14
assists for a total of 36 points. She has also scored a
team-best five game-winning goals for the Tigers.
Trinity (13-0-1, 7-0-0 SCAC) has won 12 straight
games, and continues its SCAC campaign Friday at Kerrville, Texas,
with a 4:00 p.m. game against Schreiner University. The SCAC
champions return home Sunday to host Texas Lutheran University at
2:00 p.m.
