Box Score Boerne, Texas - The two-time defending champion
Trinity men's and women's cross country teams finished
as runners-up to Colorado College at the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.
The Colorado College men scored 30 points and
Trinity amassed 38 in the eight-team field of the 8k race at Boerne
City Lake Park. Colorado College's women beat Trinity by a
scant three points (29-26) in the eight-squad 6k event.
RESULTS
Trinity junior Taylor Piske placed second in the
men's competition, with a time of 27:25. The individual
men's champion was Nick Hall of Colorado College, who clocked
in at 26:37.
Piske led a group of five Tiger runners who
earned All-SCAC honors. First-year competitor Michael Erickson ran
the course in 27:57 for a fourth-place finish. Erickson was named
the SCAC Men's Freshman of the Year. Sophomore Austin
Brown came in at No. 5 (27:58), junior Christian Soto was 13th
(28:48), and first-year Daniel Henkes placed 14th (28:54) to
complete the All-SCAC list. First-year Jacob Hammond just missed
All-SCAC recognition with a 15th-place performance (28:55), and
senior Brandon Douglas crossed the line in 18th place
(29:31).
Six Tiger women picked up All-SCAC accolades,
led by senior Nicola Hill's third-place finish (24:08).
Senior Michelle Oberndorf was fourth (24:20), and first-year
Melissa Whitman took fifth place (24:21). Whitman became this
year's SCAC Women's Freshman of the Year. Senior Autumn
Kervella placed eighth (24:40), first-year Emma Maceachern was No.
9 (24:41), and junior Mariana Sigala completed Trinity's
All-SCAC honors in 14th place (25:11). Senior Genevieve Primeau
took the No. 15 slot (25:26).
Leah Wessler of Colorado College emerged as
women's champion (23:17), and Rebecca Lavietes was second
(23:53).
Both Tiger teams will compete at the NCAA
Division III South/Southeast Regional Championships at Berry,
Georgia, on November 15.
