San Antonio - Trinity's third-ranked
women's soccer team earned a 7-0 win over Austin College on
Saturday evening to reach the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference Tournament Championship.
The Tigers improved to 19-0-1 with the team's 18th consecutive
victory. The game also marked Trinity's fourth consecutive
shutout win.
With a goal in the second half, Emily Jorgens became Trinity's
all-time leader in goals scored, netting her 59th career goal.
She previously broke Tiger career records for assists and
points scored.
Kelsey Falcone scored each of the game's first two goals,
including the eventual game-winner in the third minute of action.
Jorgens assisted on both goals, improving her career total to
87 assists - the second-highest total in NCAA Division III
history.
Kirby Peddicord made it 3-0 by halftime after converting a free
kick in the final two minutes of the period. Peddicord then
assisted Shelby Hopkins on the fourth goal of the game early in the
second half.
Jorgens scored her record-breaking goal in the 53rd minute,
followed by scores from Meredith Licata and Yasmeen Farra.
Hannah Kuhl added two assists on the final two goals, while
Brigette Taylor also nabbed an assist on the last score.
Trinity will face either #2 seed Texas Lutheran University or #3
seed University of Dallas, who play in the second semifinal later
tonight.
