Simon Uribe has been elected to the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) College Division Men's Scholar
All-America Team.
The senior midfielder was named to the NSCAA
Scholar All-America Second Team. Uribe is an economics and business
administration major with a 3.96 GPA, and earlier this week he was
chosen for the NSCAA Scholar All-Region First Team for
the second consecutive time.
Uribe accounted for two goals (both
game-winners) and three assists for seven points during Trinity's
2014 campaign. He also anchored a stingy Tiger defense which
yielded only 17 goals during the season, ranking 25th in the NCAA
Division III for goals-against average (0.65 goals per
game).
Three other honors were bestowed upon Uribe, as
he was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division III Men's
All-Region First Team, to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference (SCAC) First Team, and to the SCAC All-Tournament
Team.
The Tigers finished the year with a 24-2-0 mark, tying the
school record for victories in a season. Led by Head Coach Paul
McGinlay, Trinity won its 17th Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference (SCAC) Championship (third in a row), and qualified for
the NCAA Playoffs for the 18th time in the past 19 years (13th
consecutive year).
Trinity advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the second
straight time and ninth overall. Trinity wrapped up the the season
with a ranking of No. 8 by the NSCAA. For his leadership, Coach
McGinlay was elected the NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year for
the second time in a row, and ninth overall.
