Box Score 2 San Antonio - Trinity's baseball team
finished off a three-game weekend series sweep by taking both games
of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader against Centenary College,
winning 10-0 and 4-2.
The Tigers improved to 11-1 on the season with the two wins
today, and are ranked third in the latest poll by the
D3Baseball.com national ranking.
Trinity scored in each of the seven innings of the opening
shutout, then jumped out to a 2-0 lead to in the first two innings
of the second game. Centenary finally got on the board in the
top of the fourth, but the Tigers answered with two more runs in
the bottom of the inning to go up 4-1.
Zack Speer improved to 4-0 with six shutout innings in the
opening game, yielding just three hits, and striking out seven
batters to reach 100 in his career. Kyle Bogese went 6.1
innings in game two, giving up two runs on four hits, and striking
out four to earn his third win of the season.
Christian Muscarello went 2-3 with a run and two RBI in the
opener, while Drew Butler and Chris Bianchi added two hits each.
Carter McEachern was 2-3 with one RBI, while Connor Moore
scored three runs and reached base three times.
Austin Singer was Trinity's only player with more than one hit
in game two, going 2-2 with one RBI. Pat Hirschberg hit his
third homer of the season in the win - a solo shot to lead off the
fourth inning.
Trinity will face off against DeSales University on Thursday,
then will hit the road for a three-game series at Austin College
that begins on Saturday.
