Box Score 2 Conway, Arkansas - Trinity's third-ranked
baseball team was swept 4-3 and 2-1 in a non-conference
doubleheader at Hendrix College on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers dropped their third consecutive game, as well as
losing for the fourth time in their last five outings.
Trinity fell 5-1 at 16th-ranked Concordia (TX) University
earlier this week.
Hendrix scored all four runs of game one in the first three
innings, and while Trinity rallied with runs in the fifth and
eighth, the Warriors were able to hang on for the win. In
game two, Trinity took the lead with a run in the third, but
Hendrix answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to pull
in front.
Connor Moore and Carter McEachern picked up two hits each in the
opening game, and both players drove in a run. Jeremy Wolf
and Chris Bianchi also went 2-4 for the Tigers.
Zack Speer (5-1) was charged with the opening-game loss, which
marks his first loss since the 2012 season. Speer scattered
seven hits over 7.1 innings, giving up two runs, and striking out
six batters. Mike Walker (3-1) also suffered his first loss
of the season in the Saturday finale, allowing two runs on four
hits over 7.1 innings of work.
In game two, McEachern added three more hits to his day, while
Moore turned in two more hits and another RBI.
Trinity and Hendrix will finish off the three-game weekend
series tomorrow at noon. The Tigers will be back on the road
on Tuesday, facing off against Hardin-Simmons University.
