Baseball Drops Series Finale at Hendrix on Sunday

Box Score

Conway, Arkansas - The third-ranked Tiger baseball team was swept in a three-game weekend series at Hendrix College, falling 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity lost its fourth consecutive game, and lost a three-game series for the first time since a series against Austin College in April of 2007.  The Tigers (21-6) have lost five of their last six games after posting a 16-game winning streak.  Hendrix won 4-3 and 2-1 in yesterday's doubleheader.

Hendrix took the early lead with single runs in the first and second innings, but the Tigers rallied to tie the game with runs in the third and fifth.  After tying the game, Trinity immediately gave the lead back by allowing a run in the bottom of the fifth.

In the top of the sixth, Connor Moore put the Tigers in the lead with a two-run single.  Moore finished 2-4 with one run and two RBI in the game.

A couple of innings later, it was Hendrix who rallied with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth, taking the lead for good.  Trinity went down in order in the ninth to end the game.

Drew Butler was 2-2, while Chris Bianchi finished 2-3 in the game.  Butler and Carter McEachern both drove in Trinity runs, in addition to Moore.

Teddy Turner (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season, giving up two runs on four hits over 2.0 innings of work.  Ryan Gray started for the Tigers, allowing three runs on six hits before being relieved in the sixth.

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, facing off against Hardin-Simmons University in another road game.  Trinity resumes Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action this weekend, travelling to Schreiner University for a three-game series that opens on Saturday, April 5.
