Mountaineers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball
doubleheader Saturday at Mountaineer Field.
Trinity (24-6, 10-1 SCAC) won the
seven-inning game 12-0, and the nine-inning matchup 9-4. The Tigers
have won three straight games and stand atop the SCAC standings, 1
½ games ahead of Texas Lutheran University. Schreiner
dropped to 13-19 and 4-7 in conference play.
The Tigers opened the day by two runs in the top
of the first inning, and then exploded for seven in the fourth
stanza. Drew Butler cracked a solo home run, his fourth
round-tripper of the season. Ryan Schweers and Christian Muscarello
each accounted for two-RBI singles in the inning. Trinity closed
out the opener with a run in each of the final three
innings.
Butler batted 2-3 with an RBI and scored one
run, while Muscarello hit 2-3 with two RBI and two runs. Nick
Jewett went 2-3 with two runs at the plate. Zack Speer (5-1) was

Schreiner struck first in game two, with four
runs in the second inning, on four hits and one Trinity error. But,
that would be it for the Mountaineers, as the Tigers countered with
three runs in the top of the third. Connor Moore and Carter
McEachern each produced RBI singles. Trinity added two runs in the
fourth inning, and had one each in the fifth and sixth. The
sixth-inning run was courtesy of Jeremy Wolf's solo homer,
his second four-bagger of the campaign. The Tigers capped it off
with a two-run eighth inning.
Wolf batted 2-4 with three RBI, while scoring a
run. Pat Hirschberg hit 3-5 with an RBI, two runs and a double.
Michael Walker (4-1) started on the mound, and had eight
innings of work. Walker allowed three earned runs, six hits, two
walks, and struck out three batters. Matt Tindall was the reliever
in the ninth.

single game at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
