Tiger Baseball Blanks Schreiner to Cap SCAC Weekend Sweep

Box Score

Kerrville, Texas - Trinity's 11th-ranked baseball team finished off a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series with an 11-0 win over Schreiner University on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers improved to 25-6 on the season, and a league-best 11-1 record in conference play.  Schreiner fell to 13-20 overall and 4-8 in the SCAC.  Trinity also won 12-0 and 9-4 in yesterday's doubleheader to open the series.

Three Trinity pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout in today's series finale, led by starter Ryan Gray.  Gray had a no-hitter through 4.1 innings, improving his season record to 3-0 by allowing just one hit over five total innings, and striking out six batters.  Teddy Turner and Kyle Bogese finished off the shutout without allowing a hit over the final three innings.

Trinity scored runs in bunches today, scoring three or more times in three different innings.  The Tigers opened the scoring with a three-run second to take the lead, then cruised from there.  The offense added five more in the fifth, then three runs in the eighth to set up the run-rule.

Chris Bianchi led the way for the Tigers, going 2-4 with two runs and four RBI, hitting a double and a home run.  Jeremy Wolf continued his strong weekend by hitting 3-4 in today's game.

Pat Hirschberg and Drew Butler each drove in a pair of runs for Trinity, while Austin Singer scored twice for the Tigers.  Connor Moore was 0-2, but did draw three walks in the game, as well as stealing his team-leading 23rd base this season.

Trinity returns home for the first time since March 23 this weekend, hosting Texas Lutheran University in a three-game SCAC series.  The Tigers and Bulldogs open with a Friday night game at 7:00 p.m., followed by a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.  Currently, the two teams are first and second in the SCAC standings.
