Box Score Kerrville, Texas - Trinity's 11th-ranked
baseball team finished off a three-game Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference weekend series with an 11-0 win over Schreiner
University on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers improved to 25-6 on the season, and a league-best
11-1 record in conference play. Schreiner fell to 13-20
overall and 4-8 in the SCAC. Trinity also won 12-0 and 9-4 in
yesterday's doubleheader to open the series.
Three Trinity pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout in today's
series finale, led by starter Ryan Gray. Gray had a no-hitter
through 4.1 innings, improving his season record to 3-0 by
allowing just one hit over five total innings, and striking out six
batters. Teddy Turner and Kyle Bogese finished off the
shutout without allowing a hit over the final three innings.
Trinity scored runs in bunches today, scoring three or more
times in three different innings. The Tigers opened the
scoring with a three-run second to take the lead, then cruised from
there. The offense added five more in the fifth, then three
runs in the eighth to set up the run-rule.
Chris Bianchi led the way for the Tigers, going 2-4 with two
runs and four RBI, hitting a double and a home run. Jeremy
Wolf continued his strong weekend by hitting 3-4 in today's
game.
Pat Hirschberg and Drew Butler each drove in a pair of runs for
Trinity, while Austin Singer scored twice for the Tigers.
Connor Moore was 0-2, but did draw three walks in the game,
as well as stealing his team-leading 23rd base this season.
Trinity returns home for the first time since March 23 this
weekend, hosting Texas Lutheran University in a three-game SCAC
series. The Tigers and Bulldogs open with a Friday night game
at 7:00 p.m., followed by a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
Currently, the two teams are first and second in the SCAC
standings.
