Box Score Longview, Texas - The Tiger baseball team
improved to 4-0 on the season with a 9-5 road win over LeTourneau
University on Friday evening.
After LeTourneau took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, Trinity
scored twice in the second to pull in front. Though the
Yellow Jackets tied the game with another run in the fifth, the
Tigers exploded for seven total runs in the sixth and seventh and
never looked back.
Zack Speer improved to 2-0 on the season, giving up just two
runs on four hits, and striking out 11 batters. Ryan Gray and
Matt Tindall finished off the game for the Tiger pitching staff,
and the duo combined for four more strikeouts.
Jose Santos led the Tigers with three hits in four at-bats,
scoring two runs to go with one RBI. Also scoring twice were
Carter MacEachern and Nick Jewett
Austin Singer also had a huge day for the Tigers, driving in
four runs and going 3-5 on the day. He had a double and a
triple, as well as scoring two of the Tiger runs.
Trinity will continue its weekend road trip with an afternoon
game against Louisiana College. That game is scheduled for a
1:00 p.m. start at the University of Texas-Tyler.
