Box Score Abilene, Texas - The 16th-ranked Trinity baseball team fell 12-4 to the McMurry University War Hawks in a non-conference game Tuesday at Driggers Field.
The Tigers had a three-game win streak snapped, and now stand at 25-11 on the season. McMurry improved to 28-9 after the win.
The War Hawks struck first with a two-run homer in the opening inning, though Beau Attyah and Connor Moore drove home a pair of RBI to tie the game in the second. McMurry kept its momentum going, though, by scoring two runs each in the second and third innings to pull away for good. The Tigers kept fighting with another run in the top of the fifth inning, but McMurry shut the door with six runs over the next three innings to take a 12-3 advantage.
Jeremy Wolf hit 3-4 in the game, while Andrew Waters and Nick Jewett picked up two hits each. Mike Walker (4-3) was the Tiger starting pitcher, giving up five runs on seven hits over two innings. Teddy Turner, Zack Speer, Nick Griffith, and Michael Maul finished out the game.
The Tigers will host a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series with Austin College over the weekend. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, the Tigers will honor the seniors before closing out the regular season conference schedule.
