Box Score Georgetown, Texas - The Trinity volleyball team opened the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Divisional with a 3-0 victory Friday afternoon over Schreiner University.
MATCH SUMMARY
The Tigers defeated the Mountaineers 25-7, 25-12, 25-23, and swept the regular season series aaginst Schreiner.
Trinity turned a small early lead into a lopsided win in set one, outscoring Schreiner 16-4 down the stretch, and posting a remarkable .407 hitting percentage as a team.
After an early push by Schreiner, the second set belonged to the Tigers as well, with Trinity using a 17-5 run to take command.
Schreiner jumped ahead early in the third with six unanswered points, but the Tigers rallied late to tie the match down the stretch - including a 22-22 score towards the very end. Trinity took three of the next four points to finish off the sweep.
NOTABLES
Trinity improved its overall record to 15-5, and 7-1 in SCAC competition. Schreiner dropped to 3-15 and 0-8. The Tigers shut out the Mountaineers 3-0 last month in a SCAC Divisional held in San Antonio.
Rebecca Hayes recorded a hitting percentage of .667, with eight kills, no errors, and 12 total attacks. As a team, the Tigers piled up 40 kills to go with a .333 hitting percentage.
Erika Edrington accounted for 23 assists and eight digs. Katrina Lieberman stepped in and chalked up 11 assists in just one set of work.
Sarah Mullens led the team with 11 digs, and posted a match-high three service aces. Hannah Funk made 10 digs on the afternoon.

Trinity takes on the third-ranked host Southwestern University at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The Tigers wrap up the tournament with Texas Lutheran University at 3:00 p.m.
