San Antonio - The 12th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team will compete in the regionals of the NCAA Division III Championship tournament, starting Saturday at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Led by seventh-year Head Coach Russell McMindes, the Tigers will take on #36 Sewanee: The University of the South (TN) in the second round. Top-ranked Emory plays the winner of #37 North Carolina Wesleyan and Washington & Lee (VA) University. The regional final is set for Sunday, with all times being announced later in the week.

The regional champion advances to the NCAA quarterfinals May 23 at Kalamazoo, Michigan. The semifinals and championship matches are slated for May 24-25. The singles and doubles participants, scheduled to play May 26-28, will be announced Wednesday.

Trinity is competing in its seventh straight NCAA Tournament under the leadership of Coach McMindes. This season, the Tigers have posted a 17-9 overall record, and are 15-5 against Division III opponents. Trinity earned its 23rd berth in the NCAA postseason event by winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. It marked the 21st SCAC crown for the Tiger men's program.

Last year, the Tigers defeated Wilkes (PA) University and the host University of Mary Washington, at Fredericksburg, Virginia, in the opening rounds. Trinity advanced to the quarterfinals at Cincinnati, Ohio, and lost to Middlebury (VT) College.

The Tigers won the NCAA Championship in 2000. Trinity fought its way to the semifinals in 2014, when the Tigers defeated Middlebury to take third place.
