San Antonio - Trinity men's tennis rising junior Kevin Lee has been named as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete for the second consecutive year.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, players must have a grade point average of at least 3.50. Additionally, players must have been enrolled for the past two semesters at their current school.
Lee is a biochemistry and molecular biology major. Last fall, Lee advanced to the "B" Doubles final at the USTA/Southwest Region Championships, with teammate Clark Rivers. The event was held at Trinity's Butch Newman Tennis Center. Earlier, Lee won the Flight 3 Doubles title with Rivers at the Trinity Invitational. Lee was also runner-up in Flight 3 singles. During the dual-match season, Lee sported a 4-6 singles record, going 2-0 on the #3 line.
The Tigers, led by seventh-year Head Coach Russell McMindes, completed the season with an 18-10 record. Trinity won its seventh consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs. The Tigers were ranked 14th in the nation by the ITA, and third in the West Region.
