Trinity Baseball Crushes Crusaders in Weekend Finale

Tyler, Texas - The seventh-ranked Trinity baseball team finished its weekend road trip with a convincing 12-2 victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) Sunday afternoon.

 

GAME SUMMARY

The Tigers put up 12 runs on 12 hits, and did not commit an error in the game played at the University of Texas-Tyler. Mary Hardin-Baylor was limisted to just two runs on three hits by the Trinity pitching staff.

Trinity scored a run in six consecutive innings, starting with a four-run second, and followed by single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to make it a 7-0 game.

The score ran up to 12-0 after a three-run sixth and two more scores in the seventh by the Tigers. Mary Hardin-Baylor got on the board with a pair of runs in the eighth, but Trinity's lead proved to be too much in the end.

 

NOTABLES

Trinity won two of three games over the weekend road trip in East Texas, losing only in Friday's opener against 18th-ranked UT-Tyler. The Tigers defeated LeTourneau 13-7 on Saturday afternoon.

Kevin Flores (2-0) earned the win by pitching six shutout innings on the mound for the Tigers, allowing just two hits, and striking out two batters. 

Blake Frampton paced the Trinity offense, going 3-4 with three runs scored and one RBI and a stolen base. Frampton has scored eight runs to lead the Tigers so far this season.

Parker Cormack was 2-3 with two RBI, while Scott Walters had two hits and two runs scored. Joey Pecoraro and George Haaland drove in two runs each, while Zachary Oretsky scored twice.

Blake Frampton was hot at the plate, going 3-4 with an RBI, while scoring three runs. Frampton leads the team with eight runs this season. Parker Cormack hit 2-3, and drove in two runs. The two players each have driven in five runs.

 

UP NEXT

The Tigers head to Alpine, Texas, next weekend for a three-game series with Sul Ross State University. The first game is slated for Friday at 7:00 p.m.
