#1 Trinity Baseball Splits SCAC DH at #12 Texas Lutheran

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Seguin, Texas – The #1 Tiger baseball team split a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at #12 Texas Lutheran on Saturday.

GAME SUMMARIES

Trinity lost the opening game 8-4 after its ninth-inning rally fell short, but the Tigers bounced back with a 5-3 comeback win in the series finale.

Game one started with Trinity scoring a run in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. The Tigers added another run in the fourth to make it a 2-0 game.

After being shut out for the first four innings, Texas Lutheran broke open the game with back-to-back four-run innings in the fifth and sixth to take an 8-2 lead.

The Tigers scored twice in the eighth to cut into the lead, then loaded the bases with one out in the ninth. Texas Lutheran held on for the victory, though, as Trinity left all three runners on base.

The Bulldogs carried the momentum into the second game, scoring a run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead over the Tigers.

After Trinity tied it 1-1 in the top of the fifth, Texas Lutheran answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to go back in front 3-1.

The Tigers scored a run on three hits in the seventh, but stranded a pair of runners that could have tied the game. Trinity was not done scoring, though, putting together a three-run eighth inning to take the lead.

Michael Davis tied the game with his single to right field, then Jack Vonderhaar drove in the game-winning runs with a two-RBI double.

Texas Lutheran put the tying run on second with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but this time it was Trinity that held on for the win.
