Box Score

San Antonio – Trinity's top-ranked baseball team rallied from an early deficit to earn a lopsided 14-5 win over Sul Ross State (TX) University on Thursday night.

GAME SUMMARY

Sul Ross got off to a very quick start, scoring two runs on a two-out home run in the top of the first inning.

Sul Ross loaded the bases to start the fifth inning, leading to a pair of runs and a 4-1 lead. The Tigers limited the damage to just two runs thanks to a double play.

The offense really got going in the fifth for Trinity, scoring three runs on a pair of hits to tie the game at 4-4. Rafe Chaumette drove in a run, then scored on a wild pitch to draw even with the Lobos.

In the sixth, Sul Ross took advantage of two Tiger errors to pull back in front 5-4, but the Lobos fell apart as the Tigers rallied in the bottom of the seventh.

Trinity scored eight runs on just two hits in the seventh inning, benefitting from six walks, four wild pitches, and two errors. Jack Wisniewski dealt the biggest blow of the inning with his bases-clearing double that put the Tigers up 9-5 at the time.

The Tigers added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth to finish off the scoring, highlighted by Michael Goodrich's solo homer and another RBI double for Wisniewski.
