San Antonio - Trinity men's soccer has received a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 season.
The coaches' organization honors teams for their academic prowess, and the Tigers fit the bill. Trinity's squad collectively posted a 3.10 grade point average last season. The Tigers placed 13 student-athletes on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Fall Academic Honor Roll.
The Tigers posted an overall record of 17-2-3 and an 11-0-1 mark in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Trinity won its seventh consecutive SCAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the 17th year in a row. The Tigers moved on to the NCAA third round of play for the sixth time in seven years. D3soccer.com ranked Trinity eighth nationally, while United Soccer Coaches posted a #9 final ranking.
Led by 29th-year Head Coach Paul McGinlay, the current Tigers stand at 4-2-2 on the season and are on a three-match win streak. Recently, Coach McGinlay celebrated his 500th career victory. He became the fastest coach in NCAA history to achieve the 500 victories milestone.
Trinity opens its SCAC schedule this weekend by hosting Schreiner (TX) University on Friday.
