Trinity Men's Tennis Ends Abbreviated Season on High Note

The Trinity men's tennis team wrapped up its abbreviated season with a 10-match winning streak.

Led by 11th-year Head Coach Russell McMindes '02, the Tigers completed the campaign with a 12-6 overall record. Trinity posted an 11-1 mark against NCAA Division III opponents and was ranked 12th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Sophomore Christian Settles and first-year Hao Nguyen were flawless as a doubles team, racking up a 13-0 record. The Tiger tandem chalked up an 11-0 record on the #2 doubles line. Senior Jordan Pitts and junior Cameron Krimbill went 7-4 in doubles, all on the top line. Junior Wilson Hamilton and sophomore Artur Zigman also had a 7-4 mark, including a 6-3 record on the third line.

Pitts captured his final eight singles matches and finished the season with an 11-6 record, while going 8-5 on the second line. Zigman won eight matches in a row and had a 9-3 record, with a 4-1 mark at #6 singles. Hamilton wrapped up winning seven matches in a row and a 9-4 record, with a 7-3 performance at #3 singles. Nguyen took five straight matches for a 9-3 record, including a 5-2 showing on line four. Settles also produced a 9-3 mark, going 4-1 at #6 singles.

Krimbill won three straight matches and finished at 7-8 overall, including a 6-7 mark in the top position.

Trinity team members were honored numerous times as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Players of the Week.

Tiger doubles teams received the weekly accolade five times during the season. Nguyen and Settles were named SCAC Doubles Team of the Week on two occasions, and the tiger pairings of Settles and Krimbill, Pitts and Krimbill, and Hamilton and Zigman each earned the accolade once this season.

Pitts, Settles, and Hamilton earned SCAC Singles Player of the Week kudos.

Last fall, Krimbill won the ITA Southwest Region Singles Championship at Georgetown, Texas. He qualified for the ITA Cup at Rome, Georgia, and tied for 11th place. Each of Krimbill's matches was a hard-fought three-setter.
