Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

KERRVILLE, Texas - No. 3 Trinity University Volleyball defeated No. 7 Colorado College following a sweep of Texas Lutheran University to conclude the first day of regular-season Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference competition on the campus of Schreiner University on Saturday.

The Tigers (25-2, 12-0 SCAC) remain undefeated well into the SCAC schedule as they collected the seventh victory of the season over a nationally-ranked opponent and a season sweep of Colorado College. Trinity has now won 20 consecutive SCAC regular season matches and 46-straight victories in the state of Texas.

Senior outside hitter Annie Rose Leggett (Austin, Texas / Westwood) was a defensive menace in Kerrville as she tied her career-best performance with 27 digs in the sweep of the Bulldogs, then returned to post a new career mark with 28 digs against the Tigers from Colorado. Her 55 total digs for the day represents a torrid 7.86 digs per set average.

Senior middle blocker Emma Funk (Pass Christian, Miss. / Our Lady) also set a new career-best performance with 10 blocks against Colorado College, resetting a career-high of nine blocks against No. 16 Southwestern University which stood for less than a week.

Leggett also led the scoring effort with 19 kills combined with four aces and three blocks for 3.50 points per set. Fellow senior outside hitter Avery Tuggle (Cedar Creek, Texas / Cedar Creek) led the Trinity offense in kills (20) while Funk combined her 12 total blocks with 10 kills on a .450 attack clip.

Junior setter Marisa Amarino (Calabasas, Calif. / Notre Dame) directed the offense with 53 assists between Saturday's action. Her 27 digs in the sweep of Texas Lutheran tied a personal record for most assists in a three-set match which she set in this season's previous matchup with the Bulldogs in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

No. 3 Trinity Volleyball concludes a five-week, 18-match stretch away from home Sunday with University of St. Thomas and Schreiner.

Trinity 3, Texas Lutheran 0

The Tigers trailed for much of the opening set with the Bulldogs but stayed well-within striking distance as they collected 10 tied scores. Trinity's timeout at its 18-15 deficit sparked a 10-4 run for the 25-22 tally, powered by a pair of blocks from Funk and two of Tuggle's five first-set kills.

An 11-3 run to open the second set signalled the tide change in momentum as Trinity never allowed a lead change or tied score in either of the second or third sets. Senior rightside hitter Sarah Williammee (Denver, Colo. / East) dropped three blocks, two solo, and two kills during the initial run en route to the 25-14 second-set final.

Leggett's new career-high came mostly through her efforts in the third as she nearly doubled her digs total with 13 of her 27 digs for the match. Senior rightside hitter Sara Flynn (Seattle, Wash. / Roosevelt) and sophomore outside hitter Mackenzie Logan (Calgary, Canada / Bishop Carroll) supplied the offense with four kills each, both on nine error-free attempts, as the Tigers sealed their ninth sweep in SCAC play this season, 18th overall.

Trinity 3, Colorado College 1

The third-ranked Tigers stumbled out of the gate in the day's afternoon matchup, ceding a set to the seventh-ranked Tigers for the first time this season, 25-21. Colorado College collected four of its eight team blocks in the opener as it mustered what would be its only set victory in the match.

Trinity proceeded to lay down a significant 13-4 advantage on the block yet managed to couple that with nearly 23 digs per set to drag the Colorado College attack down to just a .022 attack percentage across the second, third and fourth games.

After seven tied scores and three lead changes were recorded in the first frame, the maroon Tigers took total control with early leads and consistent margins including nine-plus point leads in both the second and third sets.

Funk notched five of her new career-high 10 blocks in the third set which led Trinity to seven of its 15 blocks for the match and force Colorado College to a negative-.095 attack percentage. Leggett tallied 10 of her career-high 28 digs in the final frame.

Notable Numbers

Leggett's 55 digs on Saturday lept her up the program's all-time digs list from ninth to seventh with 1,623 career digs, 71 digs away from top-five in Trinity history.

Leggett is also fourth all-time in service aces, now with 230 aces for her career, just seven away from third all-time.

Tuggle's 20 kills for the day gave her 1,397 successful strikes for her career, seventh in program history and 17 kills away from sixth, 22 kills from fifth.
