The Rundown
The Tigers scored the first three points of the opening set and were still clinging to an 8-6 advantage several scores later. Colorado College promptly scored six unanswered to pull in front and never trailed again. Trinity clawed back to a 14-15 deficit, but Colorado used a 5-0 spurt to regain control, and Trinity never got closer than four points the rest of the way.
Set number two saw Colorado take an early 10-6 lead, but Trinity rallied to tie things up at 11-11. The set was still tied 15-15 when Colorado scored five of the next six to take a four-point lead late in the action. Trinity got within two at 19-21, but the teams traded points down the stretch and Colorado College led 2-0.
Trinity came out strong in the third, scoring six straight points to start things off. Colorado College rallied with a run of its own to tie things up at 9-9, but this time Trinity had the answer, scoring seven of the next eight to take a 16-10 lead. Colorado College settled in after that, though, using a 9-2 to take its first lead of the set at 19-18. Trinity was able to tie things up on the next point, but CC scored five of the next six points, and then held on for the win.
