SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity University women's basketball team is set to begin Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend at Centenary College and the University of St. Thomas on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
The Tigers remained unbeaten with three victories during the week of the Thanksgiving Holiday, improving to 7-0 overall this year. Trinity began the week with a Tuesday matchup against No. 18/25 Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, then returned home for a rematch with Hardin-Simmons that was followed by a Sunday weekend finale against LeTourneau University.
Sunday's 93-55 win marked Trinity's second-highest point total of the season and the third time the team has scored 90 more this year. The Tigers began the year by shattering the school record for points in a game, winning 140-87 at Birmingham-Southern College. Trinity also defeated Millsaps College 80-58 in the opening weekend in Birmingham, Alabama. The Tigers held off a late charge by Howard Payne University to win 72-59 in a Friday night road game, then made its home debut with a 91-56 victory over Sul Ross State University.
NCAA III Rankings: WBCA and D3hoops.com
Trinity moved up one spot to fourth in the latest D3hoops.com poll, while the Tigers held firm at the No. 5 spot in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association rankings for NCAA III. Hope College (MI) and New York University are the only schools ranked in the top five of both polls. NYU is ranked second in D3hoops.com and fourth in the WBCA ranking. Hope is the top-ranked team in both polls.

Junior guard
Maggie Robbins (Plano, Texas / Plano) was selected as the SCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday, becoming the second Tiger this season to win the honor. Robbins was also named the United States Basketball Writers Association Division III Player of the Week, which is the first time a Trinity player has won the award. She broke her career-high in scoring twice last week, capped by 20 points in just 22 minutes of Sunday's win over LeTourneau. Robbins averaged 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.3 steals over the past week, hitting 19-of-36 (52.8%) from the floor.

Trinity begins SCAC play on the road this weekend, beginning with a trip to Shreveport, Louisiana, to play against Centenary College. The Tigers have faced the Ladies 19 times during the SCAC era (since 1991-92) with each of those happening since Centenary joined the SCAC in 2012-13, and all 19 games being won by the Tigers. Trinity and St. Thomas have played just six times since the Celts joined the SCAC in 2019-20, with the Tigers holding a 5-1 record in the series. The lone defeat came in January of 2020 as St. Thomas took an 83-81 win over Trinity.
Heading into the weekend, Trinity is the last undefeated team in the SCAC, while Centenary and St. Thomas have combined for just one win so far this season. The Tigers are also ranked fourth in NCAA III in scoring average at better than 90 points per game. Trinity is second in total points this season as well as ranking second nationally with 21.1 assists per game. The Tigers also rank in the top 10 in both turnovers forced per game and turnover margin. In individual NCAA III rankings, Robbins is ranked fourth in the country in steals and 19th in assists this season.Â
Looking Ahead: #11/13 UMHB and #25 Puget Sound
Following a two-week break for Finals and the holidays, Trinity will resume play December 19 and 21 against a pair of ranked teams. The Tigers face off against No. 11/13 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Monday, December 19, and 25th-ranked University of Puget Sound on Wednesday, December 21. Trinity has won each of the five meetings with UMHB under Head Coach
Cameron Hill. The Tigers are 4-2 in the SCAC era against UPS, including a 4-0 record during Coach Hill's tenure.
