Over the next two innings Trinity collected two hits but was unable to strike first. In the bottom of the third, Sul Ross State scored two runs on one hit and one error.
Whitman led off the fifth inning with a single up the middle and stole second a few pitches later. Marina Delaluna (Concord, Calif. / Concord) later brought Whitman in on a single to left field to make the score 2-1 in the top of the sixth. Sul Ross State responded in the top of the sixth with another run to stretch their lead to 3-1.
With just three outs remaining, TU tried to rally and plate a few runs. Sydney Watson (San Antonio, Texas / San Antonio Christian) hit a one out double to center field. Dawson Dabboussi (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) was called on to pinch hit and drew a walk to put Tigers on first and second with one down. Unfortunately, the rally stopped there and Trinity dropped game one by a score of 3-1. Trinity out hit the Lobos 8-5 but recorded two errors. Patterson threw six innings, only giving up two earned runs on five hits.
Game Two Rundown

Despite the runners threatening, Patterson included the flyout to center to leave two runners on base.
Madison Horn (Schertz, Texas / Clemens) led off the top of the sixth inning with an infield single then stole second a few pitches later. Horn was ultimately thrown out at home trying to score from second on a sacrifice bunt. Whitman singled a few batters later but two runners were left on base.
