SAN ANTONIO - No. 8 Trinity University Men's Tennis logged back-to-back shutout victories on Saturday en route to the program's 27th consecutive home win as it defeated Schreiner University and McMurry University.
The Tigers (8-3, 2-0 SCAC) opened the day with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Schreiner in the morning session. Senior Cameron Krimbill (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) was the final point in the shutout of the Mountaineers with a 6-1, 6-2 tally to remain undefeated against NCAA III competition in line-one singles this season. Krimbill then joined first-year Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep) for a shutout line-three victory against McMurry.
Fellow senior Wilson Hamilton (Austin, Texas / ATA Prep) highlighted the day as one-half of the line-three doubles crew that sealed the sweep of the early portion against Schreiner, then clinched the match in the fifth singles slot with a straight-sets shutout, 6-0, 6-0. Hamilton then returned as the line-one Tiger in singles against McMurry with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Junior Cameron Goldstein (Dallas, Texas / Episcopal) was the other half of the sweep-clinching duo with Hamilton, then joined the senior atop the singles lineup as the match-clinching result with a 6-1, 6-1 output in line-two action over the Warhawks.
Trinity's mainstay line-one pair of senior Christian Settles (Claremont, Calif. / Claremont) and junior Hao Nguyen (Sugar Land, Texas / Strake Jesuit) remained in the win column with back-to-back 8-2 doubles victories. The duo remained in the singles lineup for the SCAC contest with the Mountaineers; Settles joined Hamilton with a straight-sets shutout in line four while Nguyen went 6-1, 6-1 from the second line.
No. 8 Trinity Men's Tennis heads out to Southern California next weekend to take part in the Stag-Hen Invitational featuring more nationally-contending competition.
The Tigers then return to San Antonio to host No. 25 Kalamazoo College (MI) on March 22, No. 2 University of Chicago on March 25, and No. 20 University of Mary Washington (VA) on March 26.
