SAN ANTONIO – No. 21 Trinity University Men's Swimming & Diving claimed victory in each of the day's first 14 events, ceding only the 200 individual medley, in a 172-83 victory over Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference adversary Southwestern University to close the 2022-23 home schedule.
Junior
Kendal Southwell (Rio Rancho, N.M. / Calvert) put on a breaststroke clinic in Saturday's action, winning both the 100 (57.62 seconds) and 200 events in 57.62 and 2:05.25, respectively, on top of taking on the second leg of Trinity's victorious 200 medley relay unit to open the meet.
Missouri City, Texas-natives senior
Nolan Anthony (Missouri City HS) and junior
Michael Kohl (Ridge Point) joined Southwell on the medley relay squad as the freestyle and butterfly legs, swept the freestyle sprints, and were the first two legs of the victorious 200 freestyle relay group to end the day. Anthony notched a 21.61-second 50-yard time just two events ahead of Kohl's 49.95 in the 100 free.
Junior
Nathaniel Early (Austin, Texas / Bowie) became the second Tiger swimmer to win a second individual event as he claimed the 500 freestyle directly after Southwell's 200 breaststroke. Early opened his day as the 200 freestyle winner, then closed as the third leg of the victorious freestyle relay.
Before swimming even started on Saturday, junior
Konstantine Partalas (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) collected gold from both boards. Partalas posted a score of 296 on the three-meter, followed by 287.68 on the one-meter.
The Tigers set two new all-time top-ten times for the program Saturday through rookies
William Walker (Houston, Texas / Westside) and
John Key (El Paso, Texas / Franklin). Walker was the first individual winner of the day as he landed ninth in program history with a 10:07.67 in his 1,000-yard freestyle debut. Key edged out Southwestern's Andrew Renninger—who became the lone winner for the Pirates—for the 200 backstroke title in 1:55.50 which sits 10
th in the Trinity record book.
Senior
Matteo Lanzara (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) and sophomore
Caleb Manifold (Helotes, Texas) round out the respective winning relay units. Lanzara excelled in the backstroke Saturday as the lead-off for the medley relay, then circled back to win the 100-yard event in 52.02 seconds. Manifold anchored the freestyle relay just after claiming the 100 butterfly in 52.10 seconds.

John Fontenot (Austin, Texas / St. Andrew's) completes the list of gold performances in Saturday's dual as the lone entry in the 200 butterfly to stay under the two-minute mark at 1:59.75.
No. 21 Trinity Men's Swimming & Diving will make the trek across US-281 next Saturday to visit NCAA I University of the Incarnate Word for the final dual meet of the 2022-23 season. The Tigers will then have a two-week hiatus ahead of the 2023 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted in Garland, Texas.
