SAN ANTONIO - The Trinity men's and women's swimming & diving teams were both beaten in Saturday's regular season finale against NCAA I University of the Incarnate Word. The 17th-ranked Tiger women lost 187-87, while the No. 21 Trinity men's team was beaten 198-69.
Emma Hagan (Overland Park, Kan. / Olathe East) and
Neely Burns (Phoenix, Ariz. / Thunderbird) both earned individual wins in the meet for the women's team, as Hagan won the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:08.39, and Burns won the 400 individual medley with her time of 4:29.92. In addition to her win the 400 IM, Burns also finished third in the 200 back in 2:09.78.
In the diving events,
Gabi Fulk (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Horizon) and
Alexis Radhakrishnan (Lexington, Ky. / Paul Laurence Dunbar) earned medalist finishes on both boards for the women, while
Konstantine Partalas (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) did the same in the men's events.
Partalas (285.60) and Radhakrishnan (254.55) were both runner-up in the 1-meter diving event, while Fulk was second on the 3-meter board with her score of 267.60. Fulk (237.53) was third on the 1-meter board, while Partalas was third on the 3-meter with his score of 294.30 points. Radhakrishnan was also third behind Fulk in the 3-meter competition with a score of 248.03.
John Key (El Paso, Texas / Franklin) finished in the top three in two different events, while
Michael Kohl (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) and
Kendal Southwell (Rio Rancho, N.M. / Calvert Online Academy) had an individual and relay swim that finished in the top three. Kohl was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.09 seconds, while Key was just behind his teammate in third with a time of 54.21. Key was also the runner-up in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:07.20, while Southwell was third in the 100 breast in 58.56 seconds. Kohl and Southwell took the first two legs of the 200 medley relay that finished third in 1:33.23 – less than a second away from the gold medal. The Tiger duo was joined by
Caleb Manifold (Helotes, Texas / Homeschool) and
Nolan Anthony (Missouri City, Texas / Missouri City) in the relay event.

The Tiger women's team will next compete at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Garland, Texas, February 8-11. Trinity has won 19 consecutive SCAC Championships and will look to finish strong in the final chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships that will be held March 15-18 in Greensboro, N.C. The Tiger divers will be in their final competition before the NCAA Diving Regionals on February 24-25.
