SANDESTIN, Fla. – Trinity's 19th-ranked women's golf team sits in 16th place after the opening round of the Golfweek October Classic on Sunday.
The Tigers shot a combined score of 316 for the first of three rounds over three days as all five golfers shot between 78 and 80 to start the tournament.
Senior
Lucy Hansen (Gilbert, Ariz. / Campo Verde) turned in a team-best score of 78 (+6) in Sunday's round, notching a pair of birdies on the front nine to finish one-over for the front nine.
Fellow seniors
Erin Flynn (League City, Texas / Clear Falls) and
Kiona Hsiu (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) both shot 79 on Sunday. Like Hansen, Flynn had both of her birdies on the front nine to shoot plus-one over the first half of the course. Hsiu led the team with three total birdies today, including back-to-back red scores on holes 12 and 13. She had the best back nine on the team as well on Sunday, and shot one-over-par for the final 12 holes.
Junior
Kate Schulle (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) and first-year
Marlo Zamora (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) both finished with scores of 80 on Sunday.
Trinity resumes play with the second of three rounds on Monday morning.
