Defensive Dominance Carries Tiger Women's Soccer to Conference Win Over Dallas

SAN ANTONIO - The Tiger Women's Soccer pulled out the defensive domination in the 2-0 win over the University of Dallas on Friday night, notching their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win on the season.

The Rundown

The Tigers (4-4-2, 1-0 SCAC) and Crusaders were at a stalemate for the entire first half. The Tigers would get the shots rolling when Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas / Southlake Carroll) booted a shot on goal, but it would be saved by the Crusader goalkeeper. The Crusaders would not take their first shot until 40 minutes in, but it wouldn't be close to the goal. The Tigers would go on to take eight more shots, but none of them would find the back of the net. The half would end with the scoreboard showing 0-0.

The Tigers were tired of the scorelessness, so they went on the attack. In the 52nd minute of the game, Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) would rip a shot from the corner of the box and flame it past the diving Crusader goalkeeper to put the Tigers up 1-0. The Tigers would maintain possession of the ball for the majority of the half. When the clock struck the 73rd minute, sophomore Erin Heath (Lake Jackson, Texas / Homeschool) wanted to get in on the action. Heath would send a rocket from just inside the box to the top of the net, just getting past the stretch of the goalkeeper to bring the score to 2-0 in favor of the Tigers. That would mark the first goal of the season for Heath. After that, it was time for the coveted Tiger defense to make their mark. The Tiger defensive line, led by Bailey Meyer (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) and Ilsa Newland (St. Louis, Missouri / Kirkwood) were fantastic. The Tigers limited the Crusaders to ZERO shots in the second half, and only one overall in the game.
