ABILENE, Texas - Trinity University Men's Tennis fell, 0-7, to host NCAA I Abilene Christian University on Friday in their first Division I match of the 2023 spring season. 
 
The doubles team composed of senior Hao Nguyen (Sugar Land, Texas / Strake Jesuit) and sophomore Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep [FL]) secured the Tigers' only win of the day against the Wildcats, 6-3 in the second line. 
 
Sophomore Connor Whittington (Lake Oswego, Ore. / Lake Oswego) played well in his singles competition against Abilene Christian but was ultimately bested in a third set superbreaker.
 
Senior Alessio Azzalini (Rome, Italy / Istituto Visconti) collected a strong 6-0, 6-4 mark in line-one singles in the morning's exhibition match with Tyler Junior College, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's No. 2 junior college team in the nation.

Trinity Men's Tennis will return home to San Antonio on Sunday to host Concordia University (TX) as their first NCAA III competition of the 2023 spring season. 
 
The Tigers will remain in San Antonio the following weekend to host their first conference competitions against Texas Lutheran University and University of St. Thomas.
