SAN ANTONIO – No. 13 Trinity University Men's Tennis posted a landslide opening day to 2023 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play as it netted back-to-back shutout victories over Texas Lutheran University and University of St. Thomas, all while 13 different players logged action on the court.

The Tigers (4-2, 2-0 SCAC) clinched from line-two singles in both matches as junior
Dalton Locke (Humble, Texas / Kingwood) went 6-0, 6-3 against the Bulldogs while sophomore
Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep [FL]) turned in 6-3, 6-2.

Rafa Candelas Ruiz (Zaccatecas, Mexico / American [ESP]) had the busiest day as each appeared in the lineup three times.
- Locke won 8-3 in third-line doubles against the Celts with partner Rob Chang (Aeia, Hawaii / 'lolani School), then another straight-sets singles bout.
- Candelas made his first appearance in first-line singles against TLU, 6-0, 6-1, joined partner Alessio Azzalini (Rome, Italy / Istituto Visconti) for an 8-2 line-one win over St. Thomas then completed the second shutout, 6-1, 6-1, from line five.

No. 13 Trinity Men's Tennis heads north to face another NCAA I program next weekend, University of Texas-Arlington to begin three straight weeks on the road. The Tigers return home March 16 to battle reigning NCAA III Champion, No. 1 University of Chicago.
