MARSHALL, Texas – The Tiger softball team began another weekend on the road by losing both games at No. 13 East Texas Baptist University on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity fell to 0-6 on the season as East Texas Baptist won a pair of run-rule games 11-1 and 13-1 to open up its season. The Tigers will continue the weekend tomorrow at LeTourneau University, beginning an afternoon doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
Game one opened with ETBU scoring three runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning, though Trinity came back with a run on a solo homer by
Jordyn Williams (Clayton, Calif. / Valley Charter) to lead off the top of the second inning. Unfortunately, the TU Tigers managed just one more base runner the rest of the game. East Texas Baptist added three more runs in the bottom of the second to lead 6-1, then scored twice in the third and three more times in the fourth to set up the run rule.
The second game was an even better start for the home team, scoring 12 runs on eight hits in the bottom of the first to essentially end the game before it got started. Trinity got three hits offensively to match the game one output and the lone run came by way of another solo home run.
Carsyn Lee (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound) got Trinity on the board with her first career home run in the top of the fourth inning.
Abigail Miller (Winnetka, Calif. / El Camino Real) picked up two of the team's three hits in the opener.
Emery Boettcher (Fredericksburg, Texas / Fredericksburg) and
Jordan Arce (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Thousand Oaks) were charged with the losses and both fell to 0-3 this season.
