SAN ANTONIO – Trinity University Women's Tennis collected a shutout victory, 5-0, over NAIA Our Lady of the Lake University in the two programs' first meeting in a dual match since the spring of 2012.
The Tigers (2-1) completed the sweep of doubles in line one through an 8-5 victory for sophomores
Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and
Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) after 8-3 wins for the second-line duo of junior
Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Heritage) and first-year
Trinity Levy (Camarillo, Calif. / Weil Tennis Academy) and the third-line pair of sophomore
Brooke Belitz (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Notre Dame) and junior
Ella Cummings (Albuquerque, N.M. / Sandia).
Sophomore
Trinity Hatchett (Pearland, Texas / Dawson) collected the first of two dominos needed in singles, well ahead of the rest of Friday's matchups through her 6-1, 6-1 effort. Kim finished the match from the second line, 6-0, 6-3, though even one minute later and Levy's third-line matchup would have marked the clinch but was left unfinished, 6-2, 5-2.
Trinity Women's Tennis will remain in San Antonio for its next six matches. Concordia University (TX) and NCAA I University of the Incarnate Word travel to the
Butch Newman Tennis Center Sunday, February 12. The final match of the current homestand features the reigning NCAA III runner-up, No. 2 University of Chicago, on March 15.
