GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 20th-ranked Tiger men's swimming & diving team added one final All-American performance on the final day of the 2023 NCAA III Championships.
The 400 freestyle relay team of senior
Matteo Lanzara (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo), sophomore
Caleb Manifold (Helotes, Texas / Homeschool), and juniors
Nathaniel Early (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and
Michael Kohl (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) opened the day with a 12th-place finish in the prelims with a time of 3:01.45. The Tiger quartet came back this evening and finished 13th in the consolation finals with a time of 3:00.60 that is just 0.04 seconds from the school record. The four Tigers earned Second Team All-America status with the result.
Earlier in the day, three of the Trinity swimmers also competed individually in the prelims session. Manifold and Kohl both competed in the 100 freestyle, while junior
Kendal Southwell (Rio Rancho, N.M. / Calvert Online Academy) raced in the 200 breaststroke. Manifold and Kohl were 31st and 32nd with times of 46.05 and 46.13 seconds, respectively. Southwell's time of 2:04.49 in the 200 breast was 28th in the national meet.
