The Rundown
Nevilles got Trinity on the board in the top of the first inning with his home run – a solo shot that put the Tigers up 1-0. That lead grew to three runs when Harris collected his round-tripper in the top of the second. Gore led off the inning with a triple to left-center, then Harris made it 3-0 two batters later.
Texas Lutheran began its comeback with two outs in the bottom of the second, drawing three walks to go with three hits and finishing with five runs in the inning to take a 5-3 lead. The Bulldogs added another run in the third, followed by two more in the fourth to make it a 9-3 game before the Tigers scored again.
Gore singled with two outs in the fifth, then promptly stole second to put himself in scoring position.
Michael Montrezza (Los Gatos, Calif. / Leigh) drove Gore home with a single to center to make it a 9-4 game, but the Tigers left two runners on and couldn't cut the deficit any further. That wound up being the last run of the game for the Tigers, despite finishing with 11 total hits in the game.
Texas Lutheran answered the final Trinity run with another score of its own in the bottom of the fifth, then wrapped up the game's scoring with two more runs in the sixth. Â
