SAN ANTONIO – The Tiger softball team was shut out in a 9-0 loss at the hands of third-ranked Texas Lutheran University on Saturday afternoon, capping a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series.
Trinity fell to 7-26 this season with the loss, which includes a 4-10 SCAC record on the year. Texas Lutheran notched its 30th win of the season (against just three defeats) and leads the conference with a 14-1 league mark.
Despite being held to just one hit in the game, the Tigers trailed just 1-0 through four innings as starting pitcher
Jordan Arce (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Thousand Oaks) allowed just one run on four hits through the first four innings of action. Texas Lutheran scored three unearned runs in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead, taking advantage of two walks and an error to create the cushion.
Another error in the sixth led to another unearned run and a 5-0 Bulldog lead, then the visitors blew the game open with four runs in the seventh to chase Arce from the game.
Dawson Dabboussi (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) got the only hit of the game for Trinity in the sixth inning, which was just the fourth base runner of the game for the Tigers.
