Trinity Women's Soccer Extends Winning Streak With Five-Star Performance Against Southwestern

San Antonio - The Trinity women's soccer team gained sole possession of top spot in the SCAC standings with a 5-0 home win over Southwestern University on Sunday afternoon.

Coming into the game both teams had a perfect 3-0 record in conference play, making the stakes even higher for both teams.

The Rundown

The Tigers (8-1-2) matched the San Antonio weather and came out hot in the first half putting themselves on the front foot immediately. It took just eight minutes for Trinity to go in front after a perfect through ball from Bri Werner (Woodbine, Md. Glenelg) allowed Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas Weatherford) to play the ball across the box for Abby Schneider (Albuquerque, N.M, Bosque School) to guide into the bottom corner, giving Trinity the 1-0 lead. Just seven minutes later the home team scored an almost identical goal as Bosco once again teed up Schneider for her second goal of the game and her fifth of the season.

The Trinity offensive pressure showed no sign of slowing down in the second half as Clara Richards (Buffalo, N.Y. Williamsville South) made it 3-0 in the 56th minute with a right footed shot just inside the 18-yard box. It was more good work down the right side as Bosco turned provider once again, recording her third assist of the game as Madisyn Barganski (Corpus Christi, Texas Flour Bluff) directed her cross past the Pirates goalkeeper. This was Bosco's ninth assist of the season, putting her among the top 15 players nationally in total assists.

Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas Carroll) put the icing on top of the cake with a 25-yard free kick to score her first goal of the season, giving the Tigers a 5-0 victory. It was yet another strong performance for Khan's co-captain and Tiger goalkeeper, Lauryn Lewis (Carrollton, Texas Creekview), who kept her ninth clean sheet in ten games, recording two saves along the way.

Up Next

The Tigers are on the road for two more SCAC matchups next weekend as they travel to University of Dallas at 7:30pm on Friday before playing at Austin College at 2:00pm on Sunday.
