Trinity Women's Soccer Battles To Pick Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Sherman - The Trinity women's soccer team concluded their weekend of traveling with a 2-1 victory away at Austin College. Following Friday's win at University of Dallas, Trinity are now looking at a perfect 6-0 record in SCAC play, sitting atop of the league standings with four games to play.

The Tigers (10-1-2) extended their perfect 34-0 record against the Roos with this win. Not only does this mark a seventh win in a row for Trinity but it also comes as their 30th consecutive win in the SCAC regular season.

The Rundown

On a hot afternoon in Sherman, Trinity controlled possession, hurting the Roos from the first whistle. The right side of the Tiger's attack was looking as threatening as ever, producing yet another goal in the 25th minute. Composed build up play from the Trinity back line saw Daryan Willyard (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis) put a first time cross into the opponent's box, which fell nicely for Madisyn Barganski (Corpus Christi, Texas / Flour Bluff) who's first time shot nestled in the bottom right corner. That marked her fifth for the season and it looked as if Trinity were going to have a nice trip back to San Antonio. Austin College had different ideas though and in the 34th minute, a corner kick resulted in an equalizer by the Roos. Walking back to their bench at 1-1, Trinity now had a game on their hands.

This was the first time in conference play this season that Trinity found themselves level at the half, meaning that they had to show character to ensure that all three points would come home to San Antonio. Clearly determined to make sure that this was the case, it took just nine minutes of second half action before the Tigers were back in front. After a quick throw by Trinity, Bri Werner (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg) laid the ball off to Clara Richards (Buffalo, N.Y. / Williamsville South) who produced an astonishing 25 yard strike which found the top corner, making the game 2-1. The Roos looked to claw their way back into the game forcing two saves from Trinity goalkeeper Lauryn Lewis (Carrollton, Texas / Creekview), but the Tigers' defense finished the game strong to give their team the one-goal victory.

Up Next

The Paul McGinlay field awaits the Tiger women's team for their next match against Schreiner University. The game will take place on Tuesday at 7:00pm before heading to Houston to play St Thomas (TX) on Friday at 6:30pm. Can the Tiger's continue their perfect conference record after their two upcoming midweek fixtures?
