Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity women's soccer team moved to 7-0 in SCAC play with a 3-0 win at home against Schreiner. This win strengthens their position at the top of the SCAC standings, where they remain the only undefeated team in conference action.
After conceding just their fifth goal of the season last time out, the Tigers (11-1-2) got back to their usual defensive ways with a shutout against the mountaineers. They now sit inside the top 15 in the nation for goals against average, having conceded in just two of their 14 games this season.
The Rundown
Trinity wasted no time in getting things going offensively, scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the game. It'll come as no surprise that their first goal came from some slick combination play down the right as
Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) combined with
Abby Schneider (Albuquerque, N.M. / Bosque School) who chipped the ball to the back post where
Madisyn Barganski (Corpus Christi, Texas / Flour Bluff) was waiting to convert the ball in the fourth minute. Barganski was at the double just 30 seconds later, making it 2-0 with an excellent right-footed strike just inside the box.
With ten minutes left in the first half, an
Anna Newland (Kirkwood, Mo. / Kirkwood) shot was handled inside the penalty area, giving the Tigers their first penalty kick of the season. Senior captain
Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) stepped up and calmly converted, making it 3-0 going into the half.
Although the Tigers couldn't extend their lead in the second half their defense stayed strong throughout, limiting the mountaineers to just two shots across the 90 minutes. Trinity on the other hand recorded 26 shots, 11 of which were on target.
